All hooked up for Christ­mas Deep Sea Clas­sic com­pe­ti­tion

he Port Al­fred River and Ski-boat Club (PARSC) is host­ing its an­nual Christ­mas Deep Sea Clas­sic from De­cem­ber 27 to 29.

As al­ways, the com­pe­ti­tion is based on the safest two days to fish of the three.

Prizes will be awarded for top boat, top male an­gler, top fe­male an­gler and top ju­nior.

Tbe awarded for the heav­i­est of the species for the fol­low­ing fish: kob, sol­dier, dager­aad, car­pen­ter, red ro­man.

No fish smaller than a min­i­mum of 1kg must be brought to the weigh-in.

“Please en­sure you have a valid fish­ing per­mit with you,” Mark Den­son of the PARSC com­mit­tee said.

Reg­is­tra­tion will take place from 5.30pm to 7pm on De­cem­ber 26.

There is a com­pul­sory brief­ing for skip­pers only af­ter the con­clu­sion of the reg­is­tra­tion.

The en­trance fee is R150 per an­gler and must be paid prior to the con­clu­sion of reg­is­tra­tion. Pay­ment will be re­ceived at the bar in the club.

A braai pack will be in­cluded in the en­trance fee and will be handed out to the par­tic­i­pat­ing an­glers prior to the prize giv­ing.

A copy of the rules and reg­u­la­tions and en­try form will be avail­able for col­lec­tion, be­hind the bar, at the PARSC.

All skip­pers must re­port to the Shore Con­trol (Wayne) on Chan­nel 68 when launch­ing. Launch time is 5am daily.

All boats must be back in the har­bour by no later than 12 noon of each day.

Den­son said no spe­cial con­di­tions ex­ist for bill fish – the above times ap­ply.

The weigh-in will com­mence no ear­lier than three hours into the com­pe­ti­tion.

Fires will be lit on both days at 12 noon, braai packs will be avail­able to pur­chase at R50 and all vis­i­tors, mem­bers, fam­ily and friends are wel­come.

The prize-giv­ing will com­mence at 2pm on the sec­ond day of the com­pe­ti­tion fol­low­ing a braai.

Live en­ter­tain­ment by Gary Botha will com­mence from 4pm on­wards.
