nothing has been done.

“We need a quick intervention because our children play in that area and when its hot outside we can’t even leave our windows open.”

Another complaint came from Bulelwa Njajula who also lives close to the sewage leak. She agrees with Moyikwa, stating that the smell is unbearable and the leak is next to pigs that stay there as well.

“It’s been almost three months since the problem started,” Njajula said. “We have children that live close by and we can’t have such problems, [particularly as it is] next to that place where there are pigs. We also noticed that cows drink from that dirty water when they pass by.

“We have reported the matter to the municipality but nothing has been done yet. All we want is for someone to come and attend to the matter because it is really starting to become a huge problem and it’s a health hazard. We can’t stay in a place like this, the smell is too much for us to bear.”
