Thanks all for Soup Kitchen support
As the New Year begins, we look back on 2018 as one of the more successful years for the Port Alfred Soup Kitchen.
This is thanks to the various organisations and communities, both at home and overseas, who have assisted and supported us in our cause.
A special note of thanks goes to Stenden South Africa, Stenden NHL, as well as Stenden Leeuwarden in the Netherlands for their handsome donations raised through the university’s “Fighting Hunger” programme during the year.
Thank you to our local ongoing sponsors who have supported us faithfully over the years: SUPERSPAR Rosehill and Nemato, Pick n Pay and Multi Security.
To the many churches who have reached out to us with your gifts of facecloths, soaps, toothbrushes and toothpaste, we are grateful for your contributions towards making Christmas a little more enjoyable for those in such great need.
Our appreciation also goes to those individuals and organisations – too numerous to mention – for their ongoing assistance and to our dedicated team of committee members and volunteers, as it is only through your commitment and goes to bed on an empty stomach”.
Our sporting events at the end of 2018 were a huge success, with our association in the Dirty Pineapple Mud Run and the Soup Kitchen’s own Fun Run from Kelly’s Beach.
Thanks to Barry Allen and Adviceworx for your association with the soup kitchen and sponsorship of these events and Lyn Harbrecht for putting it all together, as well as all the participants of these events – without your support these activities would not be possible.
Let’s not forget our popular quiz evenings as we look forward to a few more this year for which we thank MyPond, Stenden South Africa, Adviceworx, TotT and our quiz master Jon Houzet. Funds were raised and fun was had by all!
Thank you to the people of Ndlambe; your coming together as a community to support those in need of a wholesome meal is much appreciated by all members of the Soup Kitchen as we are currently feeding Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, supplying about 3,200 meals per week.
We urge anyone interested in supporting us financially or with their time to please pop in and have a chat with us.
