Port Al­fred Cricket Clinic a suc­cess

The 2018 Port Al­fred Cricket Clinic ran from De­cem­ber 17 to 21 at the Port Al­fred Coun­try Club and saw 23 en­thu­si­as­tic young crick­eters take part, rang­ing from five to 12 years old, in­clud­ing five girls.

Over the five days, the par­tic­i­pants were taught bat­ting, bowl­ing and field­ing skills by their coaches, Sino Bakaqana, Justin Dollery and Travis Hen­der­son.

Juice and a bite to eat each day were spon­sored by Rose­hill SPAR. The clinic ended with the pupils be­ing tested on the skills they had learnt, as well as a short “cricket the­ory” test, fol­lowed by the prize-giv­ing cer­e­mony with prizes spon­sored by Sports n All. The prize win­ners were: 5-7 age group Best Bowler: Lian Blaauw Best Bats­man: Luke Coet­zer Best Fielder: El­iz­a­beth Hen­der­son 8-10 age group Best Bowler: James Munro Best Bats­man: Seth van der Merwe Best Fielder: Mathew Phillips 11-13 age group Best Bowler: Buhle So­nanzi Best Bats­man: Ai­den du Preez Best Fielder: Caiden Moller “Friend­ships were formed, skills learnt and fun was had by all and we look for­ward to the 2019 edi­tion,” or­gan­iser and coach Hen­der­son said.
