Port Alfred Cricket Clinic a success
The 2018 Port Alfred Cricket Clinic ran from December 17 to 21 at the Port Alfred Country Club and saw 23 enthusiastic young cricketers take part, ranging from five to 12 years old, including five girls.
Over the five days, the participants were taught batting, bowling and fielding skills by their coaches, Sino Bakaqana, Justin Dollery and Travis Henderson.
Juice and a bite to eat each day were sponsored by Rosehill SPAR. The clinic ended with the pupils being tested on the skills they had learnt, as well as a short “cricket theory” test, followed by the prize-giving ceremony with prizes sponsored by Sports n All. The prize winners were: 5-7 age group Best Bowler: Lian Blaauw Best Batsman: Luke Coetzer Best Fielder: Elizabeth Henderson 8-10 age group Best Bowler: James Munro Best Batsman: Seth van der Merwe Best Fielder: Mathew Phillips 11-13 age group Best Bowler: Buhle Sonanzi Best Batsman: Aiden du Preez Best Fielder: Caiden Moller “Friendships were formed, skills learnt and fun was had by all and we look forward to the 2019 edition,” organiser and coach Henderson said.
