On Thursday December 21 at about 5.25pm a suspected thief was apprehende­d at the Port Alfred Skiboat Club in possession of several items including brand new brackets, bolts and nuts along with a handmade knife, two spanners, size 6 and 12, and a Philips screwdrive­r.

The suspect argued he had found the items in a bin. A case with opened with SAPS.

MultiSecur­ity officers responded to a panic signal at a Park Road guesthouse at about 1am on Friday December 22. The proprietor also asked for the police to attend as a drunk and disorderly person was causing trouble at the premises.

That afternoon a Halstead Road resident reported that robbers who had broken into the home the previous night were back again and had again forced open the sliding door.

On hearing the occupants were home, the burglars ran away. A guard was posted to look after the property.

Criminals attempted to break into Burksies at the Duckpond Centre just before 7am on Tuesday December 22. The burglar(s) cut the hinges off the back door and stole five cans of paint. No access was gained to the shop itself and a case was opened with SAPS.

On December 23 at just after 6am a breakin was reported at one of the units at Fountain Rocks View where two laptops, a flat screen TV and two iPhones were stolen. The burglar(s) gained entry through an open window and the burglar bars were bent. Once inside the burglar(s) used the front door to leave. Security officers reported that the nextdoor unit had also been broken into, again through an open window, and another laptop was taken. Two separate cases were opened with SAPS.

At around 9.40am a resident in Mentone Road reported his home had been burgled the previous evening and thieves had made away with a host of items including a laptop, a Samsung tablet, an iPad tablet, a HuaweiP30L­ITE, shoes, a backpack, JVL speakers, a wallet with cards and ID, and an undisclose­d amount of cash. A case was opened with SAPS.

At 3.28pm a report was received of a building next to the Boat House in Alfred Road being vandalised by three youths, who were caught by the caretaker. SAPS were informed of the incident. The boys are aged 12, 10 and 9. A case was opened with SAPS.

At 10.10pm a resident at a flat in West Beach Drive reported that her laptop had been stolen. The thief did not gain access to the remises but managed to use a stick to pull the laptop to the door where he could grab it through the security gate. A case was opened with SAPS.

The only reported suspected criminal activity on Christmas Day, Friday December 25, was a suspicious white vehicle in Tamarisk Street. When security personnel arrived, the vehicle had left.

A resident fought off a potential thief at Medolino Caravan Park just before 4pm on December 26. The intruder was first seen at a window, but was chased away. However, he returned and attempted to gain entrance to the unit on the other side. The resident fought him off. The suspect was reportedly wearing blue jeans, a red checked shirt and has tattoos on his chest. A case was opened with SAPS.

On Sunday December 27 at 10.30pm the MultiSecur­ity control room received a panic alarm from a home in Mission Street as someone was in the yard of the property. On investigat­ion nothing suspicious was found.

Kowie Build It reported the theft of a battery from a truck at its store site on Monday December 28. The staff could not say when the theft had occured. A case was opened with SAPS.

At 5.30pm Farm Mansfield reported trespasser­s on site to MultiSecur­ity who dispatched officers to attend. Nnothing has been broken or stolen.

Armed response was requested to attend to a home in Strand Street on Tuesday December 29 at 3.22am when a neighbour noticed someone in the yard and an open window. After inspection it was discovered that nothing had been stolen.

With suspicious men spotted in the area, MultiSecur­ity officers were dispatched to a home in Port Frances Crescent after 2.30pm, on December 29. A garden hose had been stolen.

Two suspicion men were seen around Seaview Terrace at around 2pm in December 29. By the time security officers arrived the men had already left.

On Wednesday December 30 at 11.30am a report was received from a woman who was being harassed at her home in Park Road. By the time officers arrived the woman reported the man had already left and that he was dressed in black with a red shirt.

On Thursday December 31 at 3.30am a resident in Alfred Road Complex 2 reported that it appeared as if someone was trying to gain access to the property, but ran away when the alarm sounded.
