Trust in the Lord this year

- Pastor Theo

The year 2020 will go down in history as one of the most abnormal, difficult and frustrating years the world has ever experienced.

The message “wear masks, wash hands and practice social distancing” has been heard thousands of times.

Many have tragically lost loved ones as a result of Covid-19.

Proverbs 3:5, 6 says: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

As we start 2021, it could either be with fear and trepidation, or with trust in the Lord. Trusting in a faithful, loving, gracious and merciful god seems to be the most recommendable thing to do. We can only speculate as to what the future may hold. Although we are not to lean on our own understanding, we must not “be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is” (Ephesians 5:17). This is imperative to ensure that we are not led astray in any way. The bible is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path. We need to read it, meditate upon it, hide it in our hearts and live it out practically every day. If it is our foundation in life, we will remain standing firm no matter how fierce the storm may be.

We need to acknowledge Him in all our ways. After consulting Him first, we need to “Commit to the LORD whatever we do, and our plans will succeed” (Proverbs 16:3). Even though the future is so uncertain, we need to set goals; if we do not, we are not going anywhere!

fter implementing all the above, God will make our paths straight. He is able!
