T❝ Some delivered even better performances than the first round, while performing in front of a larger audience seemed to give others stage fright.

he second round of auditions for Port Alfred’s Got Talent (PAGT) took place at Medolino Caravan Park during the farmers’ market last Saturday, with several new entries.

Poetry and dance were added to the list of other talents displayed by previous entrants, most of whom returned for round two.

Takudzwa Mukwambo recited two of his original, thoughtful poems, titled Alone in a Room, and A Letter to Rosemary.

Mila Jardine and Jaimey Shaw performed a dance as a duo, displaying the skills they had learned at Sha-Loui Dance School, which presented a show at Medolino that same evening.

And joining the ranks of singers was Christa Gent, who used a backing track while she sang an Afrikaans pop song with some Zulu lyrics thrown in.

Performing for the second time were solo singers Ellie Denson, Jono Basden, Shandre Vermaak and stand-up comedian Daniel Francis.

Some delivered even better performances than the first round, while performing in front of a larger audience seemed to give others stage fright.

Unfortunately two previous contestants did not show up for the round, and others who had entered were also absent.

Contestants were judged in four categories: raw talent, originality, audience rapport and confidence.

Judges Meghan Alexander of Stenden and Jon Houzet of Talk of the Town made their decisions and, based on average scores, the following contestants will compete in the final round on February 26: Ellie Denson, Jono Basden, Shandre Vermaak, Takudzwa Mukwambo, Christa Gent and as a duo, Mila Jardine and Jaimey Shaw.
