The format of a 4 Ball Alliance attracted a field of 60 players to enjoy the Indian theme with two scores to count on all holes except on the 1st, 9th, 14th and 17th where all four scores counted. Winners of the competition on 106 points were Sue Kennedy, Steve Kennedy, Glynnis Renecle and Derek

Sinclair.

In second place on 103 points were Theresa Loundar, Neil Loundar, George Lake and Lynn Lake and in third place were Margie Reid, Brian Reid, Neal Shaw and Biddy Collings who scored 101 points and counted out Pogs Smith, Yvonne Hill, Andries Small and Arjan Sap who also scored 101 points.

KGB RESULTS Tuesday January 25: Initially grey skies with a suggestion of moisture plus a fresh westerly wind saw 37 players drawn in three 3-balls and seven 4-balls to compete in a Stableford Alliance 2-scores-tocount format.

The 3-ball consisting of Mark Warren, Neil Loundar and James

Lobban all played well and combined to take first place with 86 (81+5) points. Brian Shirley, Donald McGarvie, John Abbott and Heinz Czepluch, coming at the tail end of the field, secured second place on 83 points.

John Muggeridge, Steve Kennedy and David Groenewald did not combine as well as they may have wished and their 76 (71+5) points saw that the Hamer en Sukkel resided at their table for prize giving. Tony Halse and Nick Oosthuizen both birdied the par three 8th hole. John Dell, however, took the substantial carryover 2club pool for his covey with his birdie on the 6th hole.

Paul Fryer, George Lake, Nick Oosthuizen, Barrie Brady and Heinz Czepluch all shot individual 70 netts to earn a mention. Peter Longhurst improved on their performances with a 69 nett while individual round of the morning went to Andy Stembridge with an excellent 68 nett.

Friday January 28:A fresh westerly wind that would increase as the morning progressed saw 44 hopeful golfers enter the KGB field. The format chosen was a Stableford Alliance 2scores-to-count except for the par threes where all four scores would count.

Barrie Brady, Andy Stembridge, John Dell and Paul Fryer were pleasantly surprised to find that the 91 points they had accumulated had given them first place.

A margin behind in second position were Arnie Schultz, John Abbott, Steve Kennedy and John Crandon with 90 points.

Bob Shaw, Eric Segers, Jan Immelman and Brian Reid claim the Hamer en Sukkel in their sole possession at prize giving as a reward for their 76 points, bringing relief to a close-fought battle for the trophy. Richard Laing birdied the par three 8th hole to be pipped for the 2-club pool by Matt Chadwick with his birdie on the par three 6th. Arnie Schultz shot an excellent individual 70 nett in the playing conditions while Derek Sinclair had the individual round of the day with his 68 nett.
