Online readers express views on service delivery
TOTT’s latest Facebook question was: “How satisfied are you with service delivery in Ndlambe Municipality and what areas do you think need improvement?”
Dumisa Kinqana expressed his dissatisfaction saying “Nothing, zero, nada. We all know how scarce water is nowadays but our municipality doesn’t prioritise water leaks. I dont want to mention the potholes. I doubt they have a service plan for the infrastructure.”
Lynn O’Kelly asked “What service delivery ????? with Hilary Stabbins Storer following suit and also asked “What service delivery?”
Joc Guest mentioned plenty of areas that the municipality can improve on, such as “Adhere to the law eg Stray animal control, noxious weeds, monitor income from indigent grants and increase debt collection.
“Buy offices and eliminate rentals, monitor assets and use them eg old market, get businesses to take part in Led planning and projects. Improve communication with citizens. Employ fit-for-purpose staff.”
Verona Veltman raised concern on the issue of stray cattle on the roads, “In spite of the court order, cattle still wandering across R72 and in villages of Bushmens & Riversbend.
“Trucks collecting water from Cannon Rocks destroying our badly tarred roads” they said.
Adding to the list of issues that need improvement, Noelene Lee said “We need better road markings at stop streets. Corner Broadway and Saltvlei, there are no clear markings and missing stop signs at what should be a four-way stop. Cleaning of roadside drains to prevent water pooling on the road. Just two small areas which could be better attended too.”
Susan Jeanne Robertson asked for “everyone who is on the payroll to do the job that they are hired to do and do a honest day’s work - that will ensure that our town and all its people are looked after”
Arthur Hinde questioned whether the municipality knows “the meaning of “service delivery”.
Dirk Swanepoel said “I see that sewerage is free flowing out the manhole in lower Saltvlei Rd and threatening the blind river again! It took over a year to get the pump repaired last time!”
