Raising the curtain again

- ANN GREEN

The arts in general has had a tough time over the last two years. Performers have had their gigs, shows, plays, concerts, their galleries and gatherings either severely curtailed or banned altogether.

The result is no income for all concerned. Some of us tried to keep the creative juices running by working with youngsters and adults online, which was partially successful but not ideal.

But now the time has come for that sage curtain to be lifted slightly so that audiences can take a peep at the talent, the passion and the excellence that our local performers have in abundance.

On May 7 and 8, the Royal St Andrews Hotel will be hosting artists of all kinds, who will be performing for special audiences, who have missed the smiles that have been lying dormant these last two years.

In partnership with this fine arts-loving hotel, the directors, choreographers, painters, sculpturers, actors, singers, dancers, instrumentalists, exhibitors and floral artists have the facility to display to the world, what this small part of Africa can produce.

You will be greeted with a glass of port, followed by a three course meal while being entertained with performances of local artists of all kinds. We use the word local, but many of those you will see have performed world-wide and won many accolades.

So come and enjoy an evening out, dress up, be entertained and have a great time. This is a celebration of the re-birth of the arts.

Tickets will be available from KNA from April 1. Don’t delay, book early to avoid disappointment.
