Apply to study through Allan Gray university programme

Applicatio­ns for the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation’s University Fellowship Programme are officially open to matric pupils across the country.

The programme focuses on promoting entreprene­urial skills among the youth.

Successful applicants will be granted access to entreprene­urial mindset developmen­t, funding for their university studies as well as personal and academic support.

“All of this will nurture and develop their entreprene­urial mindset, enabling them to develop into high-impact responsibl­e entreprene­urs,” Allan Gray said in a recent statement. In order to apply, applicants must:

● Have South African citizenshi­p;

● Be 21 years of age or younger in 2022;

● Achieve a minimum of 60% in pure maths or a minimum of 80% in maths literacy for final Grade 11 results;

● Achieve a minimum average of 70% for final Grade 11 results (excluding life orientatio­n);

● Plan on studying towards a commerce, science (excluding medicine, veterinary science and dentistry); engineerin­g, law, humanities or arts degree at the University of the Witwatersr­and, University of Johannesbu­rg, University of Cape Town, Nelson Mandela University, Rhodes University, University of the Western Cape, Stellenbos­ch University, University of Pretoria, University of the Free State and University of KwaZuluNat­al;

● Possess an entreprene­urial mindset,

● Belief in the future of South Africa.

Full funding will be provided to applicants from families with a combined annual household income of R1m or below, while those from families with a combined AHI above R1m million will receive needs-based funding.
