Q ATell us about your occupation.

I’m a Learner Support Agent at Qhayiya Primary School. The primary remit of my job is to support learners on curriculum related tasks and aid them in overcoming barriers to learning.

I think the government should support more small businesses with funding so that they can employ people.

What is the most satisfying aspect of the work you do?

My job is not only beneficial to me, but also the learners. By impacting their lives and by helping them to succeed in their lives gives me a sense of connection and satisfaction.

What is the one tourist attraction you would recommend to a visitor to the Sunshine Coast?

Kelly’s Beach in Port Alfred. The sea breeze is just amazing.

If you have a bucket list, what is the top item you would like to do?

I would travel to six out of seven continents.

What is your motto in life?

Only you can change your life.

What keeps you motivated?

Reaching out to others. Changing people’s lives really motivates me.

With the high unemployment rate in our country, what do you think could be done to address the situation?

I think the government should support more small businesses with funding so that they can employ people. There should also be more programmes like EPWP that employ the youth on a permanent basis.

Do you think enough is being done to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet? If not, what do you think could be done to change it?

Globally, no. But western countries like the UK and US are reducing it, so it is possible. China has been increasing - and you might think they are the problem - but this isn’t a fair way to look at it.

What is your favourite music of all time?

Kwaito. My late father introduced me to this genre.

What is the one item that is always in your fridge?

A cold drink

If you could be president of South Africa for one day, what would be the top three things you would do for your day in office?

I would provide free education; Combat crime in our country; Employ more youth.
