KENTON GOLF BROTHERHOOD (KGB)

Tues 24th May A cool wintry morning with a hint of a westerly wind saw 30 drawn in ten 3-balls to play an Alliance Stableford 2-scores-to-count on all holes with the exception of the par threes where all three in the covey had to count. Tony Halse, Peter Reed and Peter Longhurst tied for first place with Derick van Harmelen, Michael

Collins and Len Bohnen on 81 points. The conditions were even more testing, as Neil Loundar, Matt Chadwick and Andy Barnes brought relief to the field as they trudged home with 63 points to secure the Hamer & Sukkel for prize giving. Neil Loundar with the only birdie on a par three, the 8th, captured the 2-club pool. Derick van Harmelen, with a putter that performed for once, shot a solid 70 nett; Keith Rugg, continuing good form from the weekend, returned a good 69 nett; but George Lake, returning from rotator cuff treatment, posted the round of the day with a 67 nett.

Friday May 27 Probably the most perfect day for golf this year dawned to see 32 players enter the draw. Competition set was Stableford Alliance with one-score-to-count on the par threes, two-scores-to-count on the par fives and three-scores-to-count on the par fours.

James Lobban, Len Bohnen, Rick Hill and Paul Fryer found that 90 points were suffice to take first place. Mark Warren, HeinBarnard, Bob Shaw and Yvonne Hill found that 88 points earned second position.
