Medolino celebrates one year… and four stars!
Medolino Caravan Park celebrated its one year milestone under the new coowners Suzan Coetzee and Johnny Young on Saturday. Coetzee described their Farmers Market journey as “living a dream”.
Making it an even sweeter dream, Medolino was also awarded four-star grading status by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa - an achievement that Sunshine Coast Tourism manager Sandy Birch said was significant for a business only in existence for one year.
Medolino’s monthly stall holders were part of the celebration on Saturday, selling their food, vegetables, art works and clothing.
They also sponsored prizes for various competitions on the day, while Miss Port Alfred’s Got Talent, Ellie Denson sang with her golden voice to make the celebration even more remarkable.
Speaking to the stall holders on Medolino’s green lawns, Coetzee thanked them and their visitors for their continued support.
“Thank you to all the stall holders and the visitors. We would not have achieved this without your support,” she said.
Coetzee acknowledged the role played by her staff members, saying that when they bought the Caravan Park, they had no experience.
“Without the help of the staff, we would have been lost,” she said.
“We have been so busy just growing from strength to strength. We are actually living our dream and we are so blessed. Thank you to the Port Alfred community. When we came here we were strangers and they opened up their hearts and they embraced us and we feel part of Port Alfred,” she said.
