Q Please tell us about your work.

A Since I moved to Port Alfred from Makhanda, I have put all my focus into Rotary and the good work they do.

This year I am the president of the Rotary Club of Port Alfred.

Q: How and where did it all start?

A: I was introduced to Rotary when I lived in Makhanda and became a member of the Rotary Club of Grahamstow­n Sunset in 2014.

I joined the Rotary Club of Port Alfred in 2019.

Q Best moment?

A: When I had my two children.

Q: Low point (and how you recovered)?

A: The ‘empty nest syndrome ’– I immersed myself in a new hobby – Rotary!

Q: Down time: how do you unwind?

A: I love to walk my dogs and listen to music.

Q: A song, mantra or phrase that sums up the way you see the world

A: Peace for the World that won Nicole the Eurovision 1982 title.

Q: Something South African to celebrate?

A: A typical braai with friends while watching our Springboks play rugby.

Q: One thing the country needs to fix?

A: Where do I start? First, kill corruption and use that money for the upliftment of the needy.

Q: Top of your recommenda­tions for visitors to Ndlambe and the Sunshine Coast?

A: The fabulous flora and fauna and our beautiful beaches.

Q: Top of your own bucket list? A: To do a bungee jump and travel more!

Q: Favourite book?

A: The books written by my uncle, HJ Vermaas.

Q: Favourite movie?

A: Any Gerard Butler move, such as Angel has fallen.

Q: Favourite artist? A: Theuns Jordaan

Q: Who is your hero, and why?

A: My dad. He was such a gentle, kind-hearted, loving and giving man – such a fine example to me and my children.
