PORT ALFRED LIONS DIABETES SCREENING

HEALTH MATTERS: Lions Zelda Elliott, Paula Stander and Lorenda de Klerk screen blood glucose (sugar) levels for the patrons at Nemato SPAR on 23 July. Port Alfred Lions provided a free Diabetes Screening and awareness facility and patrons and staff were tested by qualified members. Those whose readings were not within the recommended prescribed limits, were advised to consult their medical practitioner or clinic for follow up. Eighty people were tested and six fell outside the limit. The Port Alfred Lions will continue to conduct similar screenings and the details will appear in Talk of the Town’s ‘Diarise This’ page.
