GOLF WEEKLY
ALEXANDRIA GOLF CLUB
A good turn-out last Wednesday, in lovely weather, saw Hilton Delport dominate proceedings with 37 individual points, followed by Pierre Schoeman on 33 points. The Alliance was won by Hilton, Brad van der Riet, Leon Naude and Trevor Hyson, while Jan Stark won the Jackpot holes. After the forecast for rain on Saturday changed to just cloudy and cool, Owen Putzier was streaks ahead of the field with 37 points, with Dave Nicoll second on 28 points and Likhona Fina third on 26. In the Bonus Ball Alliance Owen, ChristoBosman and Dave Nicoll prevailed, with Owen winning the Jackpot holes.
This Saturday the Club is hosting the Alexandria Methodist Church Golf Day. It will be played as a BetterballStableford and the cost will be R200. This will include a halfway house and a light meal after golf. Bookings can be made with Hanli on 046-6530207. The Bokke take on the All Blacks at 5pm that day, so it should lead to a festive day.
KENTON GOLF BROTHERHOOD Tuesday 26 July 2022
Bitterly cold and damp on the course saw 32 golfers contest a Stableford Alliance 2-scores-tocount on the odd holes and 3scores-to-count on the even holes competition.
Donald McGarvie, Tom Tagg, Nick Oosthuizen and Richard Farndell won on 98 points. Tony Halse, John Abbott, John Dell and Paul Fryer came second on 92 points.
The covey of Peter Longhurst, Russell Warren, Brian Shirley and Andy Stembridge, came home with 80 points to secure the Hamer & Sukkel.
No 2-clubs on par threes were recorded resulting in a carryover pool.
John Dell shot a sound individual 70 nett but Richard Farndell was the star with his outstanding 67 nett.
