‘We can organise anything!’

-

Kenny’s Sports Bar in 32 Campbell Street is owned and operated by the Kenny family, with owner Barbara Kenny and daughter Tiffany Kenny at the helm.

Speaking on the role of women in society today, Barbara Kenny said: “When I was growing up, women were not allowed in bars: now we run them!”

How does technology assist you in your line of business?

Technology plays a vital role with businesses nowadays. From till systems to advertising, we use it on a daily basis.

What does your average day consist of in your business?

Our day starts early and ends late: there is always something to do.

Do you think the 15-year-old version of you would be proud of what you have achieved?

Yes, there is so much to owning and running a bar. You become the go-to person for so many. Your family grows with all the friends you make along the way.

The people we’ve met and seen grow, the events we have helped organise and have been to.

Always something new to learn.

What would you say are your strongest personality traits that assist you in running your business?

Being a woman in this industry is definitely a plus. We have maternal instincts. We have compassion and understanding for the different situations people are in. We see and hear everything and we have a knack for spotting and diffusing difficulties.

We can organise anything; nothing is ever too much trouble.
