Local finance practice takes national honours
Boknes resident Jacques van Wyk says two top national awards for the family’s financial planning practice are thanks to their “incredible staff”.
Van Wyk and Associates, a small Financial Planning practice, took top honours in two categories in the annual Old Mutual Financial Practice of the Year Awards last week.
Marie van Wyk, the principal adviser, and her son Jacques, an associate, were awarded the prestigious Advice Best Practice Award.
The Financial Planning Institute [FPI] of South Africa underwrites this award.
Old Mutual Financial Services executive GM, Jaco van der Merwe, said in his address at the prestigious Gala Dinner held at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront Aquarium: “This is remarkable and testament to the incredible work Marie and Jacques are doing in their practice.”
Van Wyk and Associates’ motto is ‘Small Town feel – Big City Skill’.
Their practice, which orginated as a family business, is based in Fort Beaufort, with satellite offices in Boknes, Jeffreys Bay and East London.
“A lot of people have fled the smaller towns – but that’s where we’ve actually sought to grow capacity and have based ourselves,” Van Wyk told Talk of the Town. The practice was also announced as Old Mutual ’ s Practice of the Year for 2022.
This award recognises practices that demonstrate the implementation of Best Practice.
“Our desire to constantly strive for excellence and adopt forward-thinking processes underpins this achievement,” Van Wyk said.
One of the great rewards for achieving this honour was that the full Van Wyk and Associate team was invited to attend the prestigious function.
“Behind every successful adviser lies a phenomenal team,” said Van Wyk.
He said Van Wyk and Associates’ “incredible” staff were key to executing these best practice principles and the company’s success.
“This award is all about acknowledging the practice in its entirety,” he said.
