2022 Universities Boat Race

Rhodes University together with the Port Alfred Steering Committee have again hosted the Universities Boat Race 2022 on the Kowie River from 15-17 September.

Nine universities took part in the A, B and C divisions and the University of Pretoria beat the University of Cape Town by one length over the 6km distance in the A division.

The trustees of RowSA (Rowing South Africa) have expressed their gratitude for the way in which the local service clubs, Halyards Hotel, The Port Alfred River and Ski Boat Club, and those who gave their time and effort in providing marshalling motor boats and skippers for the three-day event.

Thanks also goes to those organising the student dinner at the Port Alfred High School, and the church service held every year at 9am on Friday at the Anglican Church which was very well attended and the cocktail party at the Ski Boat Club on the Friday evening of 16 September.
