GOLF WEEKLY

-

ALEXANDRIA GOLF CLUB

Last week a good Wednesday field played in really good golfing weather. Whilst the greens were still coming back from the spring preparation, with a two putt rule being applied, and the rough was very tough after the good rains, some good scores were still recorded. Pete Andrew was the best on the day with 38 stableford points, the alliance was won by Rendo Nell, Leon Naude, Jan Stark and Dave Nicoll on 74 points, whilst the Jackpot holes were shared between Pete and Brad van derRiet.

Saturday was another good day for golf and Allan Brotherton continued his very good form from last week to record 50 individual points in the Powerballstableford competition, well ahead of Trevor Hyson on 41 points. Allan, Trevor and Leon Naude won the Alliance, with Trevor also raking in the Jackpot holes.

The Club will host a spit braai and some dancing on Friday 30 September. R 120 will cover the entry fee and a spit braai meal. All welcome! Book through Hanli on 046 653 0207.

Saturday will see the Nemato Golf Club Champs being played. The competition is open to all and will be played on an individual medal format in A, B and C Divisions. The entry fee is R 150 and will include coffee on arrival and a light meal at halfway. Entries can be made through Hanli on 046 653 0207.

KENTON GOLF BROTHERHOOD

Tuesday 20th September 2022 Due to inclement weather the

KGB competition was cancelled. Friday 23rd September 2022 The KGB played their normal competition in conjunction with the Kenton Rotary Club's fundraising day. The Stableford Alliance 2-scores-to-count format saw 38 entrants drawn in two 3balls and eight 4-balls and be tested by a westerly wind that increased in magnitude as the morning progressed.

Andy Manson, Mike Krige, Richard Farndell and John Abbott with 84 points were comfortable winners. In joint second place were MaureenMcGarvie, Russell Warren and Mike Beaumont with Neil Loundar, Peter Reed, John Crandon and John Dell, both coveys on 82 points.

Derick van Harmelen, Jimmy van Rensburg and Donald McGarvie found that much was not to their liking as an implosion on 63 (58+5) points saw the Hamer & Sukkel, residing on their table at prize giving.

No birdies on par threes were recorded resulting in a carryover of the 2-club pool.

Again reflecting the playing conditions no individual performances of note were reported.
