Lions Christmas cakes on sale in Port Alfred

- TOTT CONTRIBUTOR

The Port Alfred Lions will once again be selling their sought-after Christmas cakes in November and December.

Thanks to generous support from the public of Port Alfred and surrounding towns, the club has ordered more cakes which will enable us to spread the wings of service even further into the community.

By purchasing a cake, the community has the opportunity to make an important contribution to the less fortunate. All profits are used to support the many contributions made by Port Alfred Lions Club.

During the past year, Lions have supplied spectacles to those in need. This not only assists the individual but also the entire community. The club has provided free diabetic screening, supported the elderly at the various retirement villages and assisted schools, to mention a few acts of humanitarian service.

Lions Clubs throughout SA have sold Lions Christmas Cakes to raise funds to finance service projects in their communities since 1974.

The cakes are baked by Bravo Foods in Mobeni, KwaZulu-Natal, and distributed throughout SA, Namibia and Swaziland. There is a very high fruit content, which makes these cakes extremely popular.

Port Alfred will be selling their everpopular Christmas cakes at the Heritage Mall and the Rosehill Mall from 9 am to 1pm on selected days during November and December while stocks last.

The cakes, which sell at R150 and weigh 1kg, make excellent gifts for staff, customers or friends and family at this special time of the year.

They have a fairly long shelf life so you can stash them for when unexpected guests pop in for tea!

To order your cake, contact the following Lions in your area: Port Alfred – Mike Newlands (083-6314511) or Norman Elliott (082-5724302); Kleinemonde – Neville Williamson (082-555-0973) or Max Stander (072-884-8060); Bathurst – Alf Willers (082-897-8233); Makhanda – Justin du Plooy (084-271-8039).
