Junior Sundowns have their day in the sun

Soccer and netball players in Marselle club, Junior Sundowns, hosted their first Annual Prize giving on November 5. Club secretary Vuyisani Maxwell Tsitsi said, “It was a way of saying thank you to the players and also a way to say we appreciate the skill that they bring to the club.”

Tsitsi said the club used the occasion to reflect on the year’s achievemen­ts. These included winning the Easter Tournament and placing second place in the district in the Twizza Netball Challenge (male division). He also said they won the Heritage Netball tournament, Ndlambe Netball League male and female divisions. Their soccer team placed third in the Heritage Day Tournament and fourth in the Ndlambe Football League and top 12 qualifiers in soccer.

Junior Sundowns male netball players Aviwe Gwaza, Olwethu Sizani, Ayanda Ngcosholo, Sakhekile Makinza and Loyiso Ngquwewere selected for round 1 trials of the Spar National Tournament and will play in the final selection trials on November 19 at Port Alfred High School for the 2023 event.
