CROQUETCORNER

-

The past week proved both eventful and hectic at the SA Nationals in Cape Town.

Eleven of our members pitted their skills at Kelvin Grove and Rondebosch Croquet Clubs against the country’s finest croquet players.

Ellen Wolmarans came out tops for our club ending runner-up in both the Handicap Singles and Handicap Doubles, partnered by Reggie Moyo from Johannesburg. Congratulations, Ellen, you made us proud.

Well done to Trevor Welbourne, Andries Nkosi and Peter Wansell for making it through to the knock out stages of the Handicap and Level Singles respectively.

Roger and Sue Darkes, as well as AndriesNkosi (with his partner from East London) also went through to the knock out stages of the Handicap and Level Doubles. All in all a stellar performance from the Port Alfred Club.

Any people interested in playing croquet are encouraged to contact Trevor on 082-2022541 or to come down on a Wednesday and/or Saturday afternoon to watch how the game is played.
