ALEXANDRIA GOLF CLUB

Last Wednesday the extreme heat had its effect, with not everyone completing their round! Wandile Gege, Colin Williams, Leon Naude and Dave Nicoll still managed to score well though, with Leon scoring a very good 41 points, with Colin on 39 and Dave on 38. Their alliance score of 94 was also exceptional. Leon also won the Jackpot holes.

On Friday the Club played host to the inaugural Alexandria Farmer’s Association Corporate Golf Day. This event was very well supported by sponsors and players and was a very successful day.

Course knowledge was obviously an advantage as the local 4-Ball of Pierre Schoeman, Johan Engelbrecht, Dave Nicoll and Leon Naude came in first, with an excellent score of 109 points.

Saturday saw a smaller field take to the course and a powerball format was played. Owen Putzier, Hilton Delport and Pete Andrew were the best on the day, with Hilton winning the individual competition and James Nicoll winning the Jackpot holes.

KENTON GOLF BROTHERHOOD Tuesday November 22

A moderate westerly wind and grey skies saw 35 entries, drawn in one 3-ball and eight 4-balls, into the Alliance Stableford 2-scores-to-count competition with bonus points on offer for the entire covey scoring three points or better or a “sandy”, a par from a bunker. Matt Chadwick, Neil Loundar, Andy Stembridge and Donald McGarvie cruised home in first place with 96 points. Mark Warren, Rick Hill, Derick van Harmelen and Paul Fryer found that 93 points was just enough to take second position.

Friday November 25

Overcast skies with a stiff westerly wind saw 39 entrants into the morning draw playing in one 3ball and nine 4-balls to compete in an Alliance Stableford 2-scores-to-count format. All KGB players also supported the NSRI fundraising day by entering the Better Ball Stableford competition that was run in conjunction with the normal KGB competition. Tony Halse, Pat Halse, Brian Shirley and Derick van Harmelen combined well to post an impressive 91 points to finish first by a short head. On their heels were Michael Collins, Bryan Robinson, Mike Beaumont and Paul Fryer in second with 90 points.
