Keep your home, car safe this season
Check on house alarms, car insurance policies
The end of the year is fast approaching, and we are all looking forward to a relaxing time with family and friends. Unfortunate things do happen however, and it is advisable to ensure that all possible eventualities are covered. With this in mind, we would suggest that consideration is given to the following:
Should you be going away:
Please secure your risk, i.e., activate alarm (where applicable)
Check your electrical board and switch off non-essential components, such as your geyser.
Ensure your vehicle is roadworthy and that the necessary checks are done.
This is a busy time of year both on the roads and with the criminal element. It is, therefore, important to drive safely and always be aware of your surroundings.
Make sure your vehicle is insured for the correct value.
In an emergency, know who to contact. It is advisable to save this contact number on your phone. Please ensure that you have your policy number on hand should you make use of the assist line. We also remind you of the below:
Remember that any burglary or theft claim should be reported to the SAPS as soon as possible normally within 24 hours.
For any purchases which may require insurance cover, notify your broker that you have sent an e-mail so that your request can be sent to the insurer.
If you are involved in a motor vehicle accident, ensure that this is reported to the SAPS within 24 hours. Should there be a third party involved, take down all their details such as photographs of damage to their vehicle, driver’s licence, licence disk, licence plate and details of their insurer.
Please remember not to leave any parcels, cellphones or handbags in open sight and keep such articles in a locked compartment or boot.
Should you have any questions or queries, please contact your broker or you can contact us at Edge Financial Group on 041-581-2509 or shorttermadmin@edgefinance.co.za to assist and ensure that you are correctly and adequately insured.
