Network problems fail to disrupt successful auction

-

Vintage Auctioneers, Port Alfred’s premium auction service, has been successfully operating auctions for a large base of sellers since 2015, and has continued to deliver solid results.

The February 2024 auction proved to be particularly challenging, when on the morning of the auction it was noticed that network communications were extremely slow.

“Bidding appeared to be delayed, and many calls were received from buyers questioning if there was a problem with the server,”

Sharon Whitcomb of Vintage Auctioneers said.

After diagnostics, it became evident that multiple service provider networks were impacted, as well as banking interconnect. This was the early start of the impact of the undersea cable damage!

However, the auction was successfully rescued through offers made by serious bidders on the lots on offer, and manual updating of the bids on the system. Good results were achieved for the sellers, and once again Vintage Auctioneers delivered a successful auction.

“We will make every effort to deliver on our promises to achieve optimal results for our sellers,” Whitcomb said.
