More than 65 000 oysters and wines from 32 estates will thrill and delight anybody with a taste for adventure.

The 10th Oyster, Wine and Food Festival will take place from May 29 to 31 at Montecasino – and the challenge for this year’s festival is simple: create your own oyster and drink pairings.

Gauteng’s largest Oyster Festival promises to deliver 65 000 oysters flown from Knysna, 300 different wines from 32 wine estates, gallons of beer and gourmet food offered by 30 exhibitors.

This is the first year the festival will be hosted at Montecasino. Previously Brightwater Commons had the honour.

Throughout the years this festival has attracted festival-goers from far and wide – a vibrant and diverse crowd returning each time to experience and participate in the festival.

The festival offers the opportunity to taste of the hundreds of diverse and interesting wines on offer, sip some bubbly or enjoy your favourite beer, doing pairings with fresh succulent oysters or just laze around and listen to some music.

“We specialise in showcasing hand-picked wines and gourmet foods that are presented by local citizens.,” says Judith Lee from Full Volume Events, joint-festival organiser.

“We celebrate the perfect pairing, a party in the mouth. Taste the perfect oyster with a crisp bubbly, drink an opulent red wine with a bite of smoked meat or sample a ripe Brie with an astringent Sauvignon Blanc.

“We invite all foodies, wine lovers, beer drinkers and total beginners for a memorable gastronomic experience,” Lee said.

Entrance is R125.00 per person which includes a wine tasting glass. Children under 18 years enter for free if accompanied by an adult. – Citizen Reporter
