Rosslee’s men determined to make amends

The play-offs will produce some interesting plots and subplots when Moroka Swallows, Jomo Cosmos and Black Leopards battle it out for the last remaining spot in top-fl ight football.

Craig Rosslee ( left) has already seen his former club AmaZulu relegated, while he enabled the Dube Birds to fight another day.

“I am relieved and ecstatic for the players that we did the job, and it is unfortunate for AmaZulu, but we get to live to fight another day,” Rosslee said.

Former Swallows coach Zeca Marques, now in charge of Lidoda Duvha, will have some say whether the Dube Birds continue their 68 years of top-fl ight football. Marques joined the Limpopo side in January after parting ways with Swallows in October last year. He took the club from 11th in the National First Division to finish second behind Cosmos and qualify for the play-offs.

Ezenkosi complete the trio. The big fish that is Jomo Sono is looking to leave the small pond that is the first division after three seasons there. They kick off the playoffs with a visit to Limpopo to face Leopards on Sunday.

Swallows only start their campaign on May 20.

“In all honesty, the mood wasn’t right when I arrived,” Rosslee said. “There was a lot of emotional baggage. They were tired mentally and physically. I had to give them a couple of days off, just to get them to recharge their batteries.

“A lot comes from confidence. That has slowly come back, Felix Obada is a different player. So are Vuyisile Wana, Ashraf Hendricks and Sipho Mngomezulu, who I think has been probably the most consistent player for us.”
