Adevotee of prophet Samuel Radebe of the Revelation Church of God who says he is gatvol with the chairperson of the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Rights Communities (CRL Rights Commission), is prepared “to take a bullet for his leader”. Koabeng Qhobela, 50, is angry with Thoko Mkhwanazi-Xaluva for opening a case against the prophet for failure to appear before the commission last month after receiving a summons.

Qhobela, who was captured on CCTV camera, allegedly stormed into the Commission’s Braampark offices in Braamfontein, demanding to see Mkhwanazi-Xaluva on November 25.

Apparently he requested Mkhwanazi-Xaluva’s personal e-mail address. But the commission’s staff declined and gave him a general e-mail address. He later sent an intimidating e-mail to Mkhwanazi-Xaluva. She confirmed this to The Citizen.

The Citizen has seen the e-mail, in which Qhobela calls Mkhwanazi-Xaluva an enemy for laying charges against Radebe and called her names.

He wrote: “You are calling for a dark cloud upon your life if prophet Radebe can be behind bars. Withdraw what you are trying to do, Xaluva, because one day you will cry. There is no law that will protect you upon a deep hole you are digging for yourself …”

Mkhwanazi-Xaluva yesterday said this was the first incident where someone openly threatened her.

“He said he wanted to talk me and tell me what would happen to me if I go on like this. He said I must be afraid for my life. I am going to cry and I am playing with fire,” said Mkhwanazi-Xaluva.

She said she has laid charges against Qhobela “for threatening my life”.

Qhobela told The Citizen in a telephone interview that he will not withdraw his words, even if he gets arrested or taken to court, unless Mkhwanazi-Xaluva apologises to Radebe.

“She is disrespectful. She is interfering in matters that do not concern her. She did not speak to the prophet amicably but summoned him. She is fighting with him. She must stop what she is doing because she will get into trouble and she is digging a grave for herself where no one will be able to remove her,” he said.
