EXCITING: CONTEMPORARY STARS BILLED FOR GROOVY CARNIVAL CITY SHOW

-

Wonderboy Dewald Wasserfall to headline the festival’s awesome line-up.

Dewald Wasserfall, one of the greatest artists of the Afrikaans music industry, will be performing in Carnival City’s all new Afrikaans Karnaval on March 25.

The musician will share the stage with some of South Africa’s best artists.

Wasserfall’s fans can look forward to hearing many of his grooviest songs, including material from his track titled album Jy is die Storm.

“We are thrilled to confirm that Dewald will be a part of our inaugural Afrikaans Karnaval,” Carnival City’s marketing manager, Michelle Smith, says.

“He is a fitting addition to the evening’s awesome line-up.”

Wasserfall started his career in 2006 as part of the Wasserfall band, which achieved moderate success and released hits such as Suikerbos and All About me.

Although he obtained a higher diploma in entertainment technology, he felt music was his calling and in 2010, he took on a solo music career – and has never looked back.

Vergeet Wat Jy Van Liefde Weet was his first solo album to be released.

Featuring the hits Eendag As Ons Groot Is, Sewentien and the title track, the album not only reached platinum status, but also won awards for Best New Artist at both the Ghoema Music Awards and the Huisgenoot Tempo Awards.

But the Ghoema and Tempo awards were not all Wasserfall reeled in.

Shortly after releasing his first album, his second album, Ek en Jy, reached gold status and earned Wasserfall a South African Music Award for Best Contemporary Music Album. The album also earned four Ghoema and one Tempo nominations.

Wasserfall is described as an avid, seasoned songwriter, perfectionist and passionate traveller. Tickets start at R150 per person and can be booked through Computicket. The Big Top Arena’s doors open at 5pm and the show starts at 6pm.

Jokingly, he also admits to being an awful golfer, someone who wears T-shirts and an unexceptional guitarist. He believes in surrounding himself with excellent people and biltong.

Catch Wasserfall, alongside some of the biggest names in Afrikaans music, at the Afrikaans Karnaval.

Also in the mix for the event are Karlien van Jaarsveld, Trippel 3 (Dozi, Jannie Moolman and Pieter Smith), Lianie May and many more.
