Taxpayers demand answers

-

Is it really possible that I am the only person who wonders why it is that the government and, in particular, the ministers, fail to understand that we, the taxpayers, are their employers?

If we, through the employees of the national press, ask a question, we demand an answer to these questions! Through the South African constitution the government and the ministers of government are answerable to us, the taxpayers!

Why does Bathabile Dlamini, pictured, as seen on the TV news on Sunday, think she is above the laws of South Africa and is not answerable to the South African taxpayers? If a reporter asks a question on our behalf, we demand an answer from the government.

If the government is elected by the taxpayers, logically, noth- ing may be secret from the taxpayers.

The salaries paid to members of parliament, ministers and leaders of political parties are astronomical, paid by us – the taxpayers.

Despite these enormous salaries, all these people seem to think that they have no reason to answer to the taxpayers.

Government needs to realise who employs them, or they will shortly find they are no longer the government. Tom Lambe, Oakdene
