Makhaula could move

-

A source at Free State Stars has told Phakaaathi that midfielder Makhehleni Makhaula could leave the club at the end of the season, with plenty of teams interested in the defender. Makhaula has been one of Stars’ key players for the last two seasons and has been playing in midfield and defence. “He is currently one of the most trusted players at the club, he plays regularly and he does his job really well. But he could be out of the club next season and Chippa United and Polokwane City are just some of the clubs that are looking to sign him. But he is enjoying his football at Stars, so we will see what happens at the end of the season,” said the source. Mokoena still part of the team

Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo says he has not frozen out Lebohang Mokoena (above) from his team. The 30-year-old joined the Urban Warriors in August last year, and has only featured twice in the league as a substitute under the Dutch mentor. “I don’t speak about individual players. But when I came here in October, I did not know every player. He is a good player but this time we are fighting for something (avoiding relegation) and the season is still on. It has happened to a lot of players but at this moment – and in football – things can change, so we never know,” Menzo said.

A source close to former Ajax Cape Town and Bidvest Wits player Asive Langwe (above) has informed Phakaaathi that the midfielder is training hard in order to get back to playing professional football after he was left out in the cold by Wits coach Gavin Hunt. “He spent the 2015/2016 on loan at Ajax Cape Town, but it didn’t go well because he didn’t get any game time there, so after coming back, Wits did not have any plans for him and he had one more season with them. But now he has been released from his contract and is training really hard to stay in the game,” said the source.

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane (above) says although he may, at times, get frustrated with fixture congestion, he would rather have it that way than play once a week. “I don’t want to play Saturday to Saturday, no, but I have got big responsibilities and we have to build a legacy. If we don’t want to be in that position, then we should not go to the Champions League finals, we should not go to the Super Cup final, we should not go to the MTN8 final, we should not go to the Fifa Club World Cup because then we have got enough days to rest,” he said.
