Themba Zwane
Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane has attributed his fine form to extra training sessions away from the team. Zwane has scored five goals this season, which has led to fans seeing more of his goal celebration that he calls the “Zombie dance”, popular in Tembisa. Zwane had a particularly good February, including netting three times, as Sundowns made light of the departure of Keagan Dolly to Montpellier in January. “I have been working hard on my own, the only thing I can say is that I am scoring goals now, which is something that was lacking from my game, I was not relaxed on the ball, so I have been working hard doing extra training,” said Zwane. KEYWORD: ZWANE
Dove Wome
It has been a tough season for Orlando Pirates’ Dove Wome, who suffered a longterm injury at SuperSport United. “It was difficult for me this season because I was injured. I was out for two months. I came back, but the team was doing well. It’s difficult for a coach to change a team in that situation,” said Wome. “I got a chance to move on a six-month loan. It was difficult but now I am getting game-time,” he added. He took his chance and deserves to be among the nominees for Phakaaathi’s Player-ofthe-Month for February. Wome has made an impact, and has scored twice in three games. His runs behind defenders have reminded the Bucs fans of Kermit Erasmus. KEYWORD: WOME
Lehlohonolo Majoro
While the plaudits have been raining down on Lebogang Manyama and Aubrey Ngoma at Cape Town City, the return to form of Lehlohonolo Majoro was vital with City maintaining their challenge for the league title. Majoro, now 30, has had form and fitness issues, but last month he showed signs he is back to his best, with two goals as City won 3-0 at Baroka FC. Before that Majoro showed his worth in a home draw with his former side Orlando Pirates, and in a 2-0 victory at city rivals Ajax Cape Town. Majoro’s brilliant flick through for the only goal in City’s 1-0 win at Sundowns on Friday showed he could be a candidate for March too, if he carries on like this. KEYWORD: MAJORO
Mandla Masango
SuperSport United midfielder Mandla Masango is one of the deserving candidates following some fine performances in the last couple of games for the team. Masango, who signed on loan in the January transfer window from Randers FC in Denmark, has already scored two goals in the 4-1 victory over Maritzburg United. He has been key for Stuart Baxter in improving his squad as SuperSport aim to challenge for the league title. They are third in the league with 36 points, two points behind leaders Cape Town City. Masango has recovered well after a disappointing debut in a 5-2 victory against Golden Arrows in January, when he was substituted at half-time for Thuso Phala. KEYWORD: MASANGO
