Tornado to blow through SA
ENDURANCE RACING: SUPER-LIGHT RACE CAR IS ALREADY POPULAR OVERSEAS
Genie Racing, the South African distributors of Italian Wolf Racing Cars, has just expanded its local offerings. They now have in stock the Wolf Tornado, a super-light, two seater sports prototype race car.
The vehicle, specifically designed for long distance racing, should appeal to local competitors looking at the South African Mopar Endurance Series.
The series consists of threehour and six-hour events at circuits all over the country.
It has grown in popularity over the past two seasons, mainly because it enables competitors to split the costs of racing between two or three drivers, while enduring all of them more seat time than would be the case in sprint races.
The Wolf Tornado, which weighs in at just 570 Kg, is powered by a four-cylinder, turbo- charged Peugeot engine, designed to produce between 180 kW and 330 kW of power, while retaining reliability and fuel-efficiency.
It boasts a six-speed sequential transmission with paddle shifts, an FIA-approved chassis, roll cage and fuel tank, plus a cockpit that can accommodate a variety of seat sizes for long-distance events with driver changes.
The vehicle is already popular overseas, with cars being delivered in America, Italy, Australia, France. England, Germany and Austria.
