Three South African drivers are shining stars on the international circuit recently
Three South African drivers dis- tinguished themselves at international level last weekend.
In Canada, South Africa’s Stephen Simpson and his Russo-Canadian team-mate Misha Goikhberg took their JDC-Miller Oreca to the runner-up position in last Sunday’s WeatherTech IMSA Sportscar race at Mosport Park.
The duo fought for the lead, but Simpson’s chances of victory were thwarted by a late safety car that saw the race finish under yellow flags.
The result left Simpson and Goikhberg in a close third in the championship.
In Germany Jonathan Aberdein scored his best result yet of the German ADAC Formula 4 season when he ended up second in the first race of a weekend that saw him scoring good points in all three races at Oschersleben.
In Italy Nick Adcock was relieved to stand on the podium of the Misano 24-Hour race after a tough race in sweltering conditions.
He shared a CWS Racing Ginetta G55 GT4 with British team owner Colin White, US driver JT Coupal and Dane Patrik Mathiesen.
The team had to overcome a litany of challenges to end up second in class and fifth overall.
