No investment likely under current conditions

-

The trend of looting from state coffers has become the norm, writes CJ Cupido.

South Africa is in a state of economic turmoil. Political uncertainty impacts negatively on direct foreign investment. It is pathetic that the ANC is no longer the ANC we knew during the time of Mandela, Sisulu, Govan Mbeki, Kathrada and many others.

The real ANC leaders believed in humanity, harmony and free- dom for all as mentioned in the Freedom Charter.

The concept of democracy has been misinterpreted to such an extent that some power-hungry politicians engage masses in destroying the country’s infrastructure under the pretext of protesting against service delivery.

New political parties that mushroomed after the apartheid era are, in fact, direct residual products of the ruling party, still sticking to the old ideas of violence and destruction of the nations infrastructure to voice their demands.

Surely credible leaders would be ashamed of the negative publicity in the media about corruption and its eventual traumatic impact on the ruling party.

It is as if the trend of looting from state coffers has became the norm. The only honourable thing for leaders who have brought the party into disrepute and betrayed their people and country is to fall on their swords.

We are hoping for a future with political stability and strict policy review that will attract direct foreign investment and bring the desired economic growth.
