- Kgosi Modisane

Niche brands for discerning beauty consumers.

For the first time in South Africa, discerning beauty consumers of niche luxury brands can find solace and comfort in having all their requirements under one roof, housing international cult brands such as Atelier Cologne, By Kilian, Le Labo, Comme des Garçons, Laura Mercier, rms Beauty, Christophe Robin, diptyque and a refined selection of many more market-leading artisan beauty and cosmetic brands.

The Skins Cosmetics store in Sandton City offers 65 exceptional brands and is a Dutch beauty boutique that first opened in Amsterdam in 2000.

Since then, 11 more stores have been opened.

It officially opened its Sandton branch on September 13.

The store introduces customers to its quality in an atmosphere that is welcoming, open, uncluttered and heavily service-oriented.

Primarily offering beauty products (skin, fragrance, hair and makeup), whilst also incorporating a curated extension to home decor and lifestyle brands, the store is the first “boutique-styled” beauty environment in South Africa, providing a leading selection of global niche/artisanal products for anyone who is looking for exceptional, bespoke, fashioned products outside of the mainstream.

Bespoke Fragrances

Changing the game in the perfumery and retail industry, trio Olivier Royère, Sylvie Loday and Benoît Verdier are co-founders of a fast-growing international bespoke fragrance brand and alternative Parisian perfume house EX NIHILO.

Seeking to be the alternative to stereotyped luxury products, bespoke perfumery and fragrances has seen the growth of individualistic scents and smells which cater specifically to the client.

Taking inspiration from the creative avant-garde and the French spirit of pure refinement, the company aims to give true luxury in bringing to the fore the pinnacle of savoir-faire and the most splendid raw materials in perfumery.

What started out as an idea among friends and political studies graduates Royere and Verdier became reality with the help of Loday and has seen the birth of a new age of perfumery.

Curious and open by nature, the French brand draws its inspiration from emerging talents in perfumery, but also in architecture, design or artisanal glassmaking.

It opens new collaborative paths between perfume creators, the latest technology and the artistic community.

The profitable passion project wants to respond to the demands and desires of a generation searching for new and inspiring sensations.

With only six chain stores across the globe, the fragrance brand has managed to create and cater to its niche market which has seen the rise of its top selling fragrance Musc Infini.

It is created by Louise Turner and is a pure and reassuring sensuality through an harmonious blend of musk, tonka, vanilla and benzoin. The scent evolves slowly over time, leaving a subtle but long-lasting freshness on the skin. It is an addictive perfume from the city of light, that will last beyond dawn.
