Team Rewards will fall away but Bike and Device Booster will be introduced.

Discovery Health will soon announce a number of tweaks and additions to its Vitality programme. There will be no major points changes in 2018. A single member needs 10 000 points to reach bronze, 30 000 for silver and 45 000 for gold. Diamond status is reached after attaining gold for three years in a row. The points structure for the Vitality Health Check and further checks, eg HIV, are the same.

Fitness points awarded for the year and the weekly Active Rewards goals, stay the same.

1. Active Rewards: new surprise rewards

Weekly rewards for hitting an Active Rewards goal remain. Along with existing partners Kauai, Vida e Caffé, Mugg & Bean and Ster- Kinekor, members can choose car-wash discounts or airtime.

Team Rewards, where you can double up rewards for hitting goals with two friends, fall away from October 28.

It’s being replaced by Surprise Rewards as of this week, which you’ll earn for hitting goals three weeks in a row. These include double-up core rewards from existing partners but are extended to bonus rewards. There are also retail rewards from partners and a chance to win prizes and holidays.

These two benefits have been introduced. Shoe Booster rules stay the same, with up to 25% cash back on running shoes with the HealthyGear benefit. ured in the same way as Shoe Booster.

Bike Booster’s capped at 25% of the first R20 000 of the retail price of a bike from Cycle Lab; the “earn back” runs over 36 months.

Activation fees for Device Booster and Bike Booster are R350 and R350.

Purple members have personal consultants and can get customised training programmes and discounts on things like its Executive Wellness Assessment, golf clubs and spas. Monthly fees start at R399.

4. Vitality Move and Vitality Active

Vitality Move’s free for all Discovery Health Medical Scheme members.
