SuperSport warned they’ll face a siege

- Michaelson Gumede

SuperSport United coach Eric Tinkler (right) believes his side are in a good position to make the semifinals of the Caf Confederation Cup, as they prepare to take on Zesco United tomorrow in Ndola, in the second leg of their quarterfinal clash.

Matsatsantsa only managed a goalless draw with Zesco in the first leg, but Tinkler pointed at the potential power of an away goal in Ndola.

“The pressure would’ve been there if they had scored, that would’ve been the pressure point for us,” Tinkler said.

“We knew we would have had to go there and look for two goals in order to win the tie, but now we just need to go and get one and then everything turns in our favour. “The clean sheet to me was the most important thing. I did say before that I would’ve been happy with the 0-0 and I am,” he added.

His opposite number Zlatko Krmpotic has warned Matsatsantsa to expect to be attacked from all sides.

“A better result would have been 1-1 rather than the 0-0, but okay, now I have to make sure we play an open and a free game in Ndola because this is our problem now. We will play attacking football and they must prepare for this. SuperSport are a very good team and we must prepare for a very serious game against them.”

For SuperSport to be in the quarterfinals is a huge achievement on its own. But in Tinkler, they have a coach who went all the way to the final of this competition with Orlando Pirates in 2015.
