Some tempting Win bets at Borrowdale

-

Racing Correspondent

– We are back to Sunday racing at Borrowdale this weekend when seven horses will canter down for the first race, due off at 12.45pm.

Just A Jag (Calvin Habib) appeals in this 1200m event and should fight out the finish with his stable companions Porterhouse (Fanie Chambers), whose recent form is good, and Nimble Dancer (Brendon McNaughton), who tends to surprise when least expected.

Box them in a Trifecta and include Zita (Ryan Munger) in Quartets.

Some first-timers add interest to Race 2, a 1200m Maiden Plate. Watch Epee (Munger), who is a son of Fencing Master and Oaks winner Villiera.,

Double Gold (Frikkie Greyling) has had two uninspiring runs to date but

Harare

has the advantage of being a year old than his five rivals. Watch the betting on the first-timers, Nedo Nadi and Silver Buck.

Philanthropy (Chambers) has had a confidence boost since shedding his maiden tag in June and looks competitive again in Race 3, a MR 59 Handicap over 1800m.

Stable companion Placid Sea (Habib) is a gutsy filly who always gives of her best and must be included in same-race exotics, with Stirling Road (Kevin Derere). Ladies First (Simons) will provide some value in Trifectas and Quartets as she drops in class.

Cathayness (Habib) is a battling maiden but has an age advantage in Race 4 over 1700m. Apart from Malandain (Boniface Vengesa) her four other rivals are three-year-olds. Knuckleball (Derere) should go close with stable companion Peggson (Munger)

Race 5 is a Graduation Plate over 1600m and Flasher On the Run (Mjoka) has a 2kg advantage over closest rival Simona (Habib). He has not run since May, however, and his level of fitness may be in question. This makes Simona look a very attractive proposition and looks worth backing for a Win.

Wylde Style (Simons) has no peers in Race 6, The Sable Flyers over 1260m, because her three rivals appear to be there just to ensure there is a race.

Eurozone (Greyling) looks like the horse to beat in Race 7, a MR 58 Handicap over 1100m. He is 2kg better off with Détente (Habib), who was a length ahead of him in their last meeting. Temple Run (Chambers) is always thereabouts and warrants inclusion.
