Dear Doctor, Is it true that there is a method to get pregnant with twins? If so what is it?
Hi There is no specific method that will guarantee you twins. You get twins if either one egg is fertilised by one sperm and the egg divides into two embryos or two eggs are fertilised by one sperm. There is no way you can influence chances of this happening. You are, however, more likely to get twins if you have a family history of twins or you use fertility drugs.
Dear Doctor, How does one know if they have bird flu? What are the symptoms?
Hi Most forms of the avian flu virus are obviously found in birds and its very rare for it to be found in humans and mammals. It cannot be transferred from human to human.
So to get it, you would have to have handled infected bird products or eaten eggs or meat from infected chickens not properly cooked. The symptoms are similar to flu symptoms; cough, runny nose, fever, headache, muscle pain, fatigue, diarrhoea etc.
Dear Doctor, My elderly father has now become forgetful and it’s concerning as at times he forgets important facts. How can I help him?
Hi You need to take him to your doctor for a proper diagnosis. The forgetfulness could be related to either chronic illnesses or medications he is on.
Commonly psychatric conditions like Alzheimers disease and dementia can also be associated.
It’s best to get a doctor to make a judgement and manage him further.
