Fameliaris cleans up at Zwartkops

INVITEE: GOUWS WON BOTH HISTORIC CAR RACES IN HIS CHEV V8

Riaan Fourie took the honours in both the Bridgeston­e Challenge motorcycle races.

The Zwartkops Raceway near Pretoria hosted the penultimat­e round of this year’s Inland Series on Saturday, with nine competing discipline­s treating the crowd to a full day of spectacle on both four and two wheels.

Officially, the top crowd drawcards were two Bridgeston­e BMW Club Series races.

Driving the only entered Class A car, Julian Fameliaris (Tower Crane BMW 328i Turbo) led both the heats from starting lights to chequered flag.

In race one he led home Riaan Woest (Viking Mining BMW M3 GTR), Paul Munroe (Ascona Trading BMW M3), Willie Erasmus (Big Boss Auto BMW M3), Andreas Meier (BMW E36 M3) and JB Breedt (Triplicon BMW 328i Turbo).

In race two Woest, Munro, Meier, Breedt and Erasmus filled out the top six places.

Racing by special invitation, Eugene Gouws won both the Bardahl Midvaal Historic Car races with ease in his Master Mowers Chev CanAm V8.

On both occasions he was followed over the finish line by Jannie van Rooyen (VW Scirocco), while Andre’ de Lange (N4 Auto VW Jetta) and Seef Fourie (Datsun 160Y) took turns in the respective third places.

Devin Robertson (Liqui Moly Chev Corvette), took easy victories in both the day’s Big Boss Auto Super Saloon Car races.

In race one he was chased to the flag by Karel Stols (Rotrix Mazda RX7), JB Breedt (Triplicon Nissan 300 ZX) and Riaan Draper (Auto Classic Peugeot).

Race two saw Stols, Marius Jackson (Mega Fibre Audi TT) and Breedt filling out the top four places.

The Yokohama Modified Production Car races both went to Keagan Pottas (Advanced Pest Honda CRX), leading home Evert Syffert (Cable Solutions Chev Firenza). George Economides (Martin VW Golf Turbo) and Dirk Lawrence (Vaal Timbers Honda Ballade) took turns in the third places, respective­ly.

All three of the day’s INEX Legends races saw Richard Upton (RU Legend), Willie Erasmus (Legend) and Anro Stadler (Chev Coupe) in the three respective podium places.

Louis van der Merwe (VW Commercial Witbank Swift) took both the Formula Monoposto races, followed by Sean Harrington (Harger Projects VW GTi Ray) and Mac Odendaal (CRS Auto Witbank VW GTi DAW).

Stuart Thompson (WCT Dulon MP17) won the first Historic Single Seater race from Chris Clarke (AVO Titan Mk4) and Pat Dunseith (Formula Ford).

Ian Hebblewait­e (Merlyn Formula Ford) won the next time around, leading home Thompson and Des Hillary (Buddpower Dulon Formula Ford).

Riaan Fourie (Fourways Flyers Kawasaki ZX10) won both the Bridgeston­e Challenge motorcycle races. Hendrik Erasmus (E Engineerin­g Edited by André de Kock 010-492-5281 andrédk@citizen.co.za BMW S1000RR) and Coen Erasmus (E Engineerin­g Suzuki GSXR) took turns in the respective second places, with Johan Nortje (Fourways Flyers Kawasaki ZX10) third on both occasions.

Both Classic Superbike races saw Matthew Herbert (Suzuki GSXR) winning from Fergat Mc Adam (Suzuki Katana) and Iain Pinkerton (IVID Suzuki GSXR).

The next round of the championsh­ip will be held at the Red Star Raceway near Delmas on Saturday, November 11.
