Whyte called on to get Raichu into the winner's box

– David Ferraris and Dougie Whyte team up in Race 2 at Happy Valley today with Raichu, who appears to get a great opportunity to notch his first local win.

This son of Lope De Vega has run well on his last three outings when ridden by Derek Leung but Ferraris has opted to call on Whyte to assist the gelding in shrugging off his maiden status.

Obviously with top weight and a wide gate, Whyte will need to produce some magic, but the fact

Raichu is a backmarker means the draw, in effect, isn't overly significant.

There should be good speed in the event, and if Raichu can produce a similar finishing burst to his recent efforts then he will give a bold sight.

He should be an Eachway price and it might be worth making him a floating banker in a Trifecta with Secret Agent, Treasure And Gold, Whistle Up and The Champ.

This meeting also sees the return of Joao Moreira from suspension and he will be looking to keep his perfect record aboard Yourthewonforme in Race 3.

Under rookie trainer Frankie Lor, Yourthewonforme has gone to new levels this season and Moreira has been the rider to get a tune out of him.

His victories have rated well enough for this higher grade and considering he has 6kg less to carry this time around, it will take a good one to beat him. He appeals as a Win bet. And Moreira is worth following in the penultimate event on the card as well, riding Paul O’Sullian-trained Imperial Gallantry.

This fellow should have done better last time when conceding far too much ground in an International Jockeys Series race and there is little doubt Moreira will not be making that mistake.

O’Sullivan has a sound chance in a competitive Race 5 with Planet Star, who has been racing in good form.
