A Genuine chance for a win in the Happy Valley Trophy

– The Happy Valley Trophy only has a field of 10 and on paper looks highly competitive, but gives perennial placegetter Mr Genuine a great chance to notch an overdue win.

Some might argue he is anything but genuine, having looked all over a winner on his last outing before being run down close to home, and that has happened

Hong Kong

on more than one occasion.

However, he is tough and consistent and is so well weighted in this contest he should have every chance to win his fourth race in Hong Kong.

In trying to extract maximum value from him, a Trifecta might be the best play in a competitive affair with Mr Genuine used as a banker.

Born In China (Dougie Whyte) will appreciate a move back to Happy Valley while Super Fluke is simply flying this season under his new trainer and can hit the frame again.

Much the same can be said for Perpetual Joyance, while House Of Fun will enjoy a good run and must be included.

David Ferraris has an excellent chance to win the opening event on the card with Hong Kong maiden Raichu.

This son of Lope De Vega has an excellent turn of foot and from a better barrier this time he might be able to settle in a more prominent position and take advantage of his weapon. He has been performing consistently at this level and with Joao Moreira’s Happy Sound likely to start favourite, Raichu is likely to go out better odds than he should. As a consequence, Raichu looks a great Win bet.

Tony Millard is enjoying a fantastic season and has two solid chances on the card, the first of which is in the second event with Sichuan Dar.

He will relish the significant drop back in grade from Group level to this handicap and only has to hold his form to win.

The odd part about this event is that only a field of six have been assembled, which is unusual for Hong Kong.

However, Sichuan Dar should box seat from the barrier and prove too good for his rivals under the handicap conditions.

Winner’s Way looks the obvious danger, but the 3kg weight swing in Sichuan Dar’s favour might prove a key.

And Millard saddles Sichuan Boss in the fifth race who should be a solid Eachway play. His last run in defeat was solid considering he settled handy on a fast pace. He will like the move up to 1600m and makes appeal. Happy Valley (HK) Wednesday Race 1: 12:45
