OLD JOHANNESBURG WAREHOUSE AUCTIONEERS: MORE THAN 1 000 LOTS THIS WEEKEND

If you have not been to one of Old Johannesburg Warehouse Auctioneers’ auctions, do yourself a favour! The company has had tremendous successes over its first four years. And this weekend, February 24 and 25, over 1 000 lots will go under the hammer over two days.

The auction on Saturday starts at 9am with an amazing array of items. Oriental ceramics, exceptional furniture from France and Holland, including a beautiful Victorian four-poster bed, glassware, carpets and silverware, including an exquisite Art Deco centrepiece are some of the drawcards.

There will also be gold and silver coins, a large collection of signed books, vintage records (of special mention is a signed Frank Sinatra record), cars and motorbikes, retro computers and gaming consoles (Atari and Apple), knives and daggers, bar memorabilia, toys (Dinky, Steiff and more), clocks, gramophones and so much more.

The art session begins at 2pm on the same day and there are more than 100 lots of traditional and contemporary South African and international art by the likes of Wopko Jensma, Wayne Barker, Walter Battiss, Trevor Coleman, Piet van Heerden, Gabriel de Jongh, Piet van Heerden and Tinus de Jongh.

On Sunday, the second day of the auction,the proceedings begin again at 9am with over 500 lots to choose from. On Sunday, the sale of stand-alone jewellery, precious stones and watches begins at 2pm with more than 200 lots on offer.

A selection of loose precious stones and diamonds (a sparkling 3.04 carat round brilliant cut and a 2.04 carat princess cut); a variety of Victorian, retro, Edwardian and modern earrings, bracelets, tennis bracelets and necklaces will complete the session.

There are a lot of wrist watches on this auction from stellar brands such as Tissot, Rolex, Tag Heuer, Omega, Breitling, Cartier, Raymond Weill and Rado.
