It’s not about me, says humble Percy

It comes as little surprise that Percy Tau (right) saw off stern competition from Musa Lebusa, Augustine Mulenga and Lebogang Maboe to win Phakaaathi’s Player-of-the-Month award for April.

Tau starred in all six of Mamelodi Sundowns’ Absa Premiership matches in April en-route to winning the title. While he’s the most popular among our readers, the jury is still out on whether the 23-yearold will walk away with the coveted Footballer-of-the-Season gong.

“I don’t know the criteria for the award but then I think that with the hard work that I have put in, we deserved to win the league. I personally look for improvement in every game, what is the point of scoring goals and not looking after the small details. I know that the goals will count but I focus on the small details and that has helped me grow as a player,” said Tau.

With one game remaining, Tau is toe-to-toe with Polokwane City’s Rodney Ramagalela on top of the scoring chart with 11 goals apiece.

However, Tau is not seeking personal glory.

“It is never about me that much, it is about the team and that’s my thinking,” he said.
