IFP can take a note out of Buthelezi’s book

Emulate Buthelezi and don’t spill blood, writes Nzwakazi Nombasa Mpinga-Siziba

-

Iwould like to appeal to both IFP members and their followers about the foreign political culture that is slowly and gradually creeping into the party. The issue of intra-party killings or solving problems through the barrel of a gun is not in the DNA of its president, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

He is on record for having opposed any form of violence, be it the former oppressor during apartheid South Africa or those who regarded him as their number one enemy and obstacle in misleading the masses while taking political shortcuts.

He believes in talks and negotiations and applying a multi-strategy approach in facing any situation.

It is against this background that I appeal to Inkatha members and its leaders not to destroy their leader’s legacy of solving any problems or finding a common solution through applying negotiation skills.

This is the most powerful weapon in neutralising those who do not share a similar view with you.

It creates friendship and trust and also allows one to criticise you without being viewed as an opponent or enemy.

Even not as someone who should be killed.

You are therefore challenged to emulate your leader, Buthelezi, and express your view skilfully, instead of resorting to spilling blood.
