Q & A WITH MOME MAHLANGU ABOUT KHUMOPANDA COSMETICS:

-

1. When did the idea come about?

“Because of her growing Instagram fame, I didn’t want her to be famous for nothing or just being Mo and Mome’s daughter. In her videos she would be selling brands like Panado, Dettol etc. Which made me think, why don’t we just make her own, she liked the idea and then she came up with khumopanda.com. I found a distribution company from Pretoria early this year and we started working on samples, which took a lot of back and forth before reaching the final product.”

2. Where will the products be sold?

Products will be sold on her online store www.khumopanda.com which went live yesterday. Also at Afro Kids salon in Rivonia and Mini Me salon in Northcliff (owned by Zandi Nhlapho).

3. What products are in the range?

We will first launch the hand cream, body spritz and lip balm. We are currently working on kids‘ soap and bubble bath. The aim is to teach young girls the importance of staying clean and smelling good. Her slogan is: “Every kid deserves to smell good.”

4. How involved is Khumo in the making of the products?

She comes up with flavours, She is always on YouTube, she watches a lot of kids videos then she will come up with ideas like, “Mommy can we make kiddies bubble bath?” Then I meet distributors and make sure it’s sensitive for kids’ skin.
