A ‘dam’ good line-up
In the mood for an outside concert? Great, join Die Heuwels Fantasties, Karlien van Jaarsveld, Francois van Coke, Koos Kombuis, Elvis Blue, Bongeziwe Mabandla, Bouwer Bosch, Martin Bester and Schalk Bezuidenhout on August 5 at Emmarentia Dam for the annual Liefde by die Dam concert.
Liefde by die Dam, named after Valiant Swart’s hit song serves as a platform to showcase suburb local music.
Following previous successes one of SA’s most influential singers, Kombuis and afro-folk singer Mabandla join this year’s line-up.
Pierre Greeff from Die Heuwels Fantasties says Liefde by die
Dam is a very special event for the band.
“We aim to pay some love forward. Bring your own picnic blanket and leave it behind after the concert. The Liefde Wen team will make sure that the blankets find new homes where needed.”
Headliner Van Coke dropped his latest EP yesterday – and with new music, featuring Die Heuwels Fantasties, you can’t miss out. The EP Francois van Coke en
Vriende is a four-track spectaular featuring collaborations with Jack Parow, Die Heuwels Fantasties, Early B and AKING’s front man, Laudo Liebenberg.
The En Vriende EP has music ranging from rock to punk to hip-hop, showcasing Van Coke’s unique position in the South African music industry.
The idea for the EP was fuelled by the AMP Events production Francois van Coke en Vriende
which is taking place in Pretoria on September 15.
“All four of these collaborating artists are part of the Francois
van Coke en Vriende production. I wanted to release new music this year before my third full length album, which drops next year,” says Van Coke.
“After everything came together for the show in Pretoria, it felt like a great idea to write music with some of these friends.
“With the help of Red Bull Studios Cape Town and Jägermeister we were able to pull off a great sounding EP.
“It is going to be awesome to perform a track like the one I have done with Early B titled Altyd lief
vir jou for the first time at the Sun Arena,’’ Van Coke says.
But, until then, catch him at the dam. – Citizen reporter
